Regardless of whether you are at a national park, beach, or your own backyard, spending time outdoors can lower blood pressure, improve your mood, reduce stress, and slow your heart rate. All of this and other aspects of being in nature also contribute to a stronger immune system. When children in particular get up and away from computer screens they experience less stress, use their imagination more, get moving, experience reduced stress and fatigue, and are able to focus their attention better.
While there are a variety of studies that all look at the importance of fathers from different perspectives and under different situations, they all unequivocally state that a father’s active participation is always preferred, and that quality of time is more important than quantity. Beyond these mechanics, the studies suggest that “legitimately care for your children and modeling good behavior” is most important. Perhaps most importantly, dads need to realize that their kids are always watching, and that what they do matters.
